Intervals- 5 x 1200.

THURSDAY 13/7/06, 3PM, 13.5K, WEEK TO DATE 46.5K, 8 HOURS SLEEP, SHOES ASICS 1100

Some more focus on sleep worked well for this session.

SW wanted me to do 5 x 1200m with 90 second recoveries. I drove from Gympie to Brisbane Thursday morning and did the session on the artificial track at University of Queensland, St Lucia.

4K warmup in 19 minutes, then 5 x 100m strides with jog back recoveries. Then into the session. I aimed to run each rep in under 4.48 (4min/km pace).

4.45 (1K split 3.57)
4.47 (1K split 3.59)
4.44 (1K split 3.54)
4.43 (1K split 3.55)
4.42 (1K split 3.55)

2K warmdown on the grass verge of the track.

Really good session, great for the confidence after an ordinary few days. Was starting to wonder if the Glandular Fever was coming back, but I suppose not. This session was pretty hard work- alternated between expecting to blow up, and feeling aggressive.

Ah, the St Lucia athletics track - I know it well. Did you leave your $3 fee - bad karma if you didn't!
